Scripture of the Day: Matthew 21:22
22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
This weekend we had a big milestone in the Frailey household! My little man prayed for the first time by himself on Saturday! Proud mama moment that made me cry. Here are the details...we had prayed together on Saturday morning for my husband to kill a deer because we are dependent on that meat to feed us throughout the year. After I laid Nathan down for a nap I heard him cry, "Help!" so I went in to his room. What he needed help with, was praying! He closed his eyes, bowed his head and folded those little hands and said, "Dear God, I would like to go to the mall or the libary and please help my daddy get a dear. Amen." (note - those are his two favorite places and the typo is intentional :))
Friends, some people hunt for the trophies, but we are dependent on the meat! Finances are hard, and good beef is expensive, so each year, that meat gets us through. Since being married, God has always provided at least one deer for my husband. But as of Saturday night, his group of hunters had NO deer between them! Part of me thought I needed to pray extra hard because we needed the meat, but part of me knew that God would answer the prayer of my sweet little boy! I believed we would receive what we prayed for.
Sunday morning I got a text message that between the 3 men, by 9am they had FOUR deer! My husband had 3 of those 4! Instead of nothing, the Lord had provided more than we could ever eat! I cannot remember the last time I was so happy about an answered prayer. I told our little guy and the smile on his face was priceless.
Friend, please don't read that Scripture take it to mean every prayer will be answered. There are lots of factors to that, involving praying in the Spirit and also praying in alignment with God's will. If you would like to learn more about praying in the Spirit, I encourage you to read the Books/letters written by Paul. As I have discussed several times, God's will for our lives and those we love, doesn't always allow for what we ask for and that does not make him any less loving, or mean he doesn't hear us. But in this situation, I am extremely thankful that we believed, that God's will lined up with our request, and that we will soon have a freezer full of meat!
Closing Prayer (shortest one ever!)
Heavenly Father God, thank you for answered prayers!
