I'm writing this more for prosperity's sake and because I need to try and wrap my head around a conversation I just had with my seven year old.
Mandisa's song "Bleed the Same" was playing in the car...my kiddo asks me what she is actually saying because he hears "We all be the same." I explained how it meant that regardless of skin color, or lots of other things really, we all bleed the same. On the inside, we are all the same.
And then the zinger.
He says, "We all look the same inside. Except our hearts."
"Oh really?" Says I.
"Yes," says he "because of sin. I'm talking on a spiritual level."
AAAHHHHH!!! Our hearts all look different because of sin in the my mind of my baby. And I bet you that in the eyes of God, who can see the heart in a different light and who judges it's motivations, our hearts all DO look different.
When I think of a heart full of sin, I think of black and decay instead of something bright and red and pulsing with life. How does my son picture these things? How does his little brain manage to think about sin and tie it to something concrete? What has God revealed to him?
It MAY be that, even though I think I'm failing in about 100 different ways every day...maybe I'm not. And it SURELY is, because Jesus himself said; "Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belong the kingdom of heaven." Jesus knew. Kids get it. I think kids get more than we could possibly understand because their world is simpler. There isn't as much gray. And in the black and white, I think they see the world through the eyes of Jesus a little clearer. Children process differently and it is so beautiful to see and in this moment, it makes my cup overflow.
Mama's - love your babies. They see you loving the Lord and even if they never comment on it, or you think they're "behind" in their spiritual growth, they're not. God shows them what He needs to, when He needs to...and if your kiddos are supposed to talk about it - they will. The kingdom of heaven belongs to your children. God teaches them what they need to know so they can be amazing residents there someday :). He's got this.
