Scripture of the Day:Proverbs 3:13
Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding.
After reading lots of verses about wisdom, I admit I have always been confused on the subject! At this time in my life, I am trying to get a little insight from God, or perhaps some spiritual wisdom...attempting to figure out God's will for my little family. I sometimes wish I could roll the dice like the early Israelites and get a direct "yes" or "no" from God. It would definitely make things easier!
But with no dice, we are left with some options! Our old pastor preached on a great way of seeking God's will for your life and to me at least, that is trying to seek wisdom. When seeking this, there are four thing to do. Pray. Read the bible. Talk to your spiritual mentors (those people in your life you trust to hold you accountable, and who won't be afraid to tell you if you're being way off base). Finally, look at your circumstances.
On a day to day basis this is hard to do! Our circumstances are what we see every day. They seem concrete. We know the opportunities offered. We know our financial standing. We know what "doors" open and close. The trouble with circumstances is that they can be influences by Satan and the world and thus cannot be trusted as much as the others.
So, friends, when trying to make a decision, seek the other three things first and if the circumstances line up too, that is fantastic. And when they don't...seek the other three things again and use your discernment to the best of your abilities.
Also, when you are looking for answers, look at your past. How has God talked to you before? What milestones do you have that He has been part of? You may notice a pattern. For me, as bizarre as this may sound, I gain the most insight as I drive in my car when I am by myself. If you haven't done so, it may be good to look at your past and write down how God has "spoken" to you before. What pointed you in the direction He wanted you to go? When you know the markers, it becomes easier to look for them to guide you.
What I would really love is if our guts told us what to do! Sometimes my gut instinct seems to go with what God is wanting...and sometimes my gut is way off. I'm not sure it can be trusted! :)
Friends, seek out wisdom and understanding from the Lord rather than just from yourself. You will be blessed!
