I'm in the middle of a Beth Moore study on Believing God and this week my mission is to be on the lookout for miracles.
I didn't have to look far.
In this time of craziness, when despair would be easy and lots of other negative things justified, I feel ridiculously blessed. I'm getting better at finding beauty in the broken. And this is possible largely due to a simple change in my prayer life.
Before I get out of bed in the morning I ask God to make me new. Every day. And thanks to a word study on the different constructs of "create", when I pray that, I'm asking God for the "BAM - poof into existence" kind of new. I want a pure heart and a steadfast mind. Every day. New.
Sorry for that repetition, but repetition is exactly what I need. This lady is often mind-led instead of spirit-led and if I don't try to get myself in that "I am the Lord's" mentality every day, it doesn't happen.
Have you ever been told by someone close to you that you were incapable of changing? That, in their eyes, you were in a locked box and nothing new could break in and nothing old could get out? That you were stuck. Either actually, or in their perception of you.
In the name of Jesus Christ - refute that. That is a lie. Your God has promised to make you new (when you ASK). Let's back this up with Scripture:
Psalm 51:10 states: Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. If you pray that every day, you are asking two things. 1) that God would poof that pure heart into you daily so you can be molded and remolded. So that you can be made new. and 2) that the spirit in you can be revived in you daily - as a NEW creation. An unwavering one.
You don't have to be stuck. You can be doubly new every day. In your heart and in your spirit. And that is a miracle!
That is my daily miracle. See how I tied that back to the beginning? :) Now for my challenge. I think it could be your daily miracle too. Will you add this prayer to your morning routine? For one week, will you pray Psalm 51:10 to yourself before you get out of bed? Will you look forward to being made new, each day, as the Lord sees fit? I am so very sure you will notice a difference!
