Unplanned Getaway (Psalm 136:1)

Psalm 136:1

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever

This weekend we have an unexpected little family getaway! I was supposed to fly solo on this trip to pick up our little man but some lovely person took my husbands shift at his Saturday job so what was a weekend apart is now a weekend full of quality time! That time is such a blessing right now! It is so unexpected and so exactly what we needed that I can't stop smiling and my heart is happy while I write this.

Friends, blessings  from the Lord don't always come in big packages. They don't actually have to come in packages at all! The blessings don't have to mean healing (although that is a BIG gift when it happens). Blessings don't have to be new jobs, a new relationship, or more money. Sometimes a blessing is the joy of an unexpected car trip with nothing to do but talk and 48 hours of togetherness.

As I sit here, I am praying that this weekend (and every day) brings you unplanned blessings! Perhaps a date night, or perhaps a child who sleeps through the night so you can get more than a few hours of sleep, or even a sunny day so you can wash the car or your flowers can grow! Look for the little blessings in your life today. I am confident you will find them!

By now, you should know I like songs. I like Christian songs because their words don't put any "yuck" in my head and I don't have to worry about what little ears are taking in when they are on! I'm writing this more for prosperity's sake and because I need to try and wrap my head around a conversation I just had with my seven year old. Mandisa's song "Bleed the Same" was playing in the car...my kiddo asks me what she is actually saying because he hears "We all be the same." I explained how it meant that regardless of skin color, or lots of other things really, we all bleed the same. On the inside, we are all the same. And then the zinger.
