Scripture of the Day: Ezekiel 37:5-6
This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
If you know me well, you know that I have been plagued with health issues for most of my life. This summer has been no exception. My latest saying of choice is that if my head were right on top of my legs, I would have no problems! I may look a little strange, but I bet you I would feel awesome (that is if my heart and lungs could somehow be included so I could still breathe)!
All humor aside - life is hard. Illnesses, especially those that go undiagnosed, can take their toll because as people in the age of technology - we want answers for everything. And we want those answers 10 minutes before we even thought of asking the question! But God doesn't work that way...some answers never come. Not because God doesn't have the answers but because we don't really need to know them.
I am reflecting tonight on how my life, or rather my mentality, has changed over the years. I no longer wonder why I have so many things happen health-wise. One of the greatest gifts of a Christian life (at least for me) is the elimination (on good days!) of the question "why." Instead of looking at possible reasons, I look at what is. And what is, is this. God stitched together every part of who I am. He put breath in me and so I breathe. He has given me infinite grace and therefore I can attempt to gracefully handle any health trauma (or drama) that comes my way.
Readers, although I feel this post is a little more personal than most, it does apply to you as well! In the back of your mind you may have constant questions about the actions of people in your life, or about your choices in relationships (friendship and otherwise). You may wonder why some people seem to have all the "luck" and you feel like you are at the bottom of the pit. You may not think things are always rosy at work, or really understand your home living arrangements. There are many attempts by the enemy to make you always ask "why", or make you doubt the sovereignty of God.
Go back to the words above. God put breath in you and you came to life. That, my friends is all we really need to know. Someday, when we are up in heaven, we will have the answers and see a little bit of the bigger picture. Down here on earth, we are not called to understand. We are simply called to live. Day by day. With as much grace in our circumstances as we can muster.
