Love

Scripture of the Day: John 14:21

Whoever has my commandments and keeps them, he it is who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him.

I moved the prayer from the end to the beginning...because if you don't make it through this whole thing, the prayer is what is important!

Heavenly Father God; thank you for loving us. Thank you for the head knowledge of that every day. Please help us not only know it; help us feel it in our hearts. God, you show us you love us every day in numerous ways and we don't always pay enough attention to see it. Sometimes it doesn't come in the form of the words, "I love you." Sometimes we have to search for it. Help us see it. Help us embed the concept that you love us and we are YOURS. Forever. On good days and bad days, you stay the same. Thanks to Jesus, you love us no matter what. Help us love you that same way; and help us extend that uncomplicated love to others.

I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.

And now the post.

Yesterday was amazing (minus one major set back for someone I love, but this is not the place to share that...) So we will continue on with amazing.

Yesterday God decided to pretty much scream at me, "I LOVE YOU!" In oh so very many ways. The kicker is, He loves me every day, and I know it every day. But yesterday he told me. How does God tells you he loves you? I'm going to walk you through a few of the weird ways I learned from Him yesterday. It's long - bear with me!

1) Popular Mechanics. Quote by Hunter Biden in the latest Popular Mechanics magazine on the love he and his father have: "We don't have a complicated relationship. And the reason we don't have a complicated relationship is that I know that no matter what, he loves me, and no matter what, I love him more than anything in the world. And I guess that's the root of all of it." This quote was eye opening because more than anything, I want my son to know I love him - NO MATTER WHAT and because it made me see how UNcomplicated love is. We try to make it really complicated; but that's a human thing. God loves us. Period. Not because of anything spectacular we are; he loves us no matter what (well - because of Jesus, but that is another story too!).

2) The cardinal baby is alive. We have a cardinal couple with a nest in this monstrosity of a bush by our front door. Two nights ago, I finally saw the nest, peeked in an saw a little fluff ball with eyes...but I couldn't tell if it was alive. Yesterday morning, mama bird was sitting on the nest, When I doubted if the bird was alive, I felt God pointing out that HE has this...of course the bird would be alive?! Doesn't he take care of the birds of the air? Doesn't he love them? Doesn't he know that they were my grandmothers favorite?

3) Scriptures above - John 14. Last night I went to a Memorial Service for my grandmother (of the cardinal love), at the nursing home she passed away in. I had prayed before I went in that God would move me in some way and he delivered! More than anything, these verses gave me hope - in the house with many rooms that God has created; in my Savior to come back; In the love I have for the Father, and the love he has for me.

4) The Hymn "You are Mine."  In the refrain, there is a line that literally says, "I love you and you are mine." That was when it seemed that God was literally screaming his love for me. My heart was filled to capacity at that point!

Well, yesterday I got the message loud and clear. There were even more examples than what I put in here. So today I am thankful...so unbelievably thankful for those demonstrations of love yesterday. They have given me much to ponder, and enough amazement that I think it will get me through many days.

...and now I have this as a way to look back and remember, in case I forget - which I am sure I will do!

Ladies - your heavenly father loves you. No matter what.

I love you Lord (Psalm 100:2)

Scripture of the Day: Psalm 100:2  Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Starting last fall, my husband began singing the song "I Love you Lord," to our kiddo before he went to bed, as a lullaby of sorts. The lyrics are simple: I love you Lord, and I lift my voice to worship you, oh my soul rejoice! Take joy, my King, in what you hear, may it be a sweet, sweet, sound in your ear. It has since become a very popular song in our house! We sing it before nap time, bed time, and I hum it when sometimes when our little guy is upset or over tired. I love singing it slow and asking him to sing with me – at this point he knows most of the words and there is really nothing sweeter than hearing that little voice sing “I yuv you yord,”  (no “r’s” yet you see)! The song has also worked it's way into my personal worship of the Lord. The words are meant for Him to hear and I think he loves to hear them sung! I find that singing that j...

What is Your Lie?

By now, you should know I like songs. I like Christian songs because their words don't put any "yuck" in my head and I don't have to worry about what little ears are taking in when they are on! Some touch me deep and here are the lyrics to part of a new favorite: Reckless Love by Cory Asbury There's no shadow you won't light up, Mountain you won't climb up Coming after me... There's no wall you won't kick down, Lie you won't tear down, Coming after me... Friends. Focus on that last point: There's no lie God won't tear down. What is your lie? What lie, or even lies, do you believe about yourself? What lies run over and over in your head until they don't feel like lies anymore? What hurts have you told yourself you deserve? What unkindness have you accepted as your due? What actions have you justified for others? What fault have you accepted that really isn't yours? What forgiveness have you felt unworthy of? I'm...

From the mouth's of babes

I'm writing this more for prosperity's sake and because I need to try and wrap my head around a conversation I just had with my seven year old. Mandisa's song "Bleed the Same" was playing in the car...my kiddo asks me what she is actually saying because he hears "We all be the same." I explained how it meant that regardless of skin color, or lots of other things really, we all bleed the same. On the inside, we are all the same. And then the zinger. He says, "We all look the same inside. Except our hearts." "Oh really?" Says I. "Yes," says he "because of sin. I'm talking on a spiritual level." AAAHHHHH!!! Our hearts all look different because of sin in the my mind of my baby. And I bet you that in the eyes of God, who can see the heart in a different light and who judges it's motivations, our hearts all DO look different. When I think of a heart full of sin, I think of black and decay instead o...
