Scripture of the Day: Hebrews 3:13
13 But encourage one
another daily, as long as it is
called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
Love this verse! I love the whole message,
but my brain focuses on that capital T in “today!” I’m no scholar, and have not done any research,
but to me the reason for “Today” is because it was written to be timeless.
Today is the whole realm here on this earth until Jesus comes back again. We
need to think about “Today,” everyday – because there is sin knocking on the
door every day. Until Jesus is ruling this world, deceit is something we will
continue to see all too often.
Notice the words above, “But
encourage one another daily…so that none of you may be hardened.” Can you
imagine this “Today” if we did that? If every day we encouraged our brothers
and sisters in Christ (or really everyone), instead of putting them down, or
envying what they have, or judging what they say? If we purposefully and
prayerfully set out each day to be encouraging, above all else, to the people
we encounter, I think this “Today” could be incredible!
I’ll start. Reader, I encourage you!
I encourage you to speak in love those you see today. I encourage you to look
to God when you don’t have an answer to what is going on in your life. I
encourage you to talk to God and read His word to understand him, and yourself,
better. I encourage you to love the people of this world as God loves you –
which means you look beyond what you see and look with your heart – and even if
what you see there isn’t pretty, you love them anyway. I encourage you to NOT
be discouraged. God gave you this day to use so it is meant to be savored and
not trudged through. I encourage you to look for the grace God has given you
and always hold out for hope, even when you can’t see it. I encourage you because
God tells me that doing so will help you not be hardened by the deceit of sin.

encouragement, please email me at elizbeth.frailey@gmail.com.
I would love to send some specific words your way!
Closing prayer:
Heavenly Father God, thank you for
using Your words to encourage me to encourage others! It was a message I needed
to hear. It also made me realize that we can ALL use a little more
encouragement in our lives. Please help us be encouraging to each other – every
day. Help us be positive and uplifting to those in our lives. Do not let the
deceit all too often present today win – help us see through it because we are encouraged
by You, and by those around us. In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray these things.
Amen.
