Scripture of the Day: Philippians 4:4-7
4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I am currently attempting to read the Jesus Calling devotional daily (and not succeeding I will admit), but for the past few days her topic has been one of thankfulness and trust. Sarah Young, the author, goes so far as to ask us to have a paradigm shift; from planning and evaluating to practice trusting and thanking God continually.
This concept seems fantastic and in theory it seems easy to apply to our lives, but I in practice it will be more complicated. Paradigm shifts are typically big changes! The reason I feel this could be simple is because when we rise in the morning, the topic could be inserted in prayer. For example, "Heavenly Father, I would like to thank you for today. I trust that Your will for my life is better than anything I could figure out on my own. Help me remain thankful for what you do (or don't do) and help me keep trust in You in the forefront of my heart and mind."
The prayer obviously doesn't have to be exactly that, but I believe that if you ask God for trust and thanks, he will not disappoint. After all, that is what he desires of you! To seek him him with all you've got...to thank him...and to trust him!
