Scripture of the Day: Matthew 6:19-21
19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Tonight I heard a children's song with the verses above and they are resonating with me in ways they have not before.
I typically think about investing in Jesus as the way to increase your treasures in heaven...but when it comes to practical application I find myself investing in Jesus through an alternative source. My days are spent with my son. Soon they will hopefully filled with more children (child care - not my own!) I have been looking at watching other children as a great way for my son to have other entertainment sources during the day and as nice supplemental income but after listening to the verses I realized that those children are where my heart is. And that investing in them, is investing in Jesus because I am trying to instill in them a love for the Lord, a kindness for others, respect for adults and the desire to share with each other and with those who have less.
For right now, my treasure and my heart are tied up with little ones. That is where I think God wants them to be! He has given me the desire to stay home and I feel this is where I belong! It feels good to be in this place :).
