Scripture of the Day: Hebrews 12:1-2a
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
These verses were on our church program this past Sunday...and they were what I needed to see to get my behind in gear! This life we are in is a race - one we are in for the long haul. Sometimes we feel like the tortoise and sometimes we feel like the hare. There are nice straight hills and then you find hills that are hard to climb and valleys you think you may never get out of. BUT the race of our lives has been marked out for us by God, who knows just a little bit more than we do! :) It is our job to run our race with perseverance - no matter how cruel we think our lot may be!
The only way I know of to do that is to do as Paul says. Keep your eyes upon Jesus. He is stable and able to be a great motivator. In future years when I look back on my life, I don't want people to remember my hills or valleys...my failures or my successes. I want them to see that I lived my life with my eyes fixed on Jesus, ran the race as I was supposed to, and persevered.
Today I pray that you may do the same! Run your race, no mater where it takes you and keep your eyes fixed where they most need to be...on Jesus Christ.
